Multiple Intelligences馃馃摎
Hello dear reader, we find ourselves again with a new topic.
The topic we will be studying this week is called Multiple Intelligences.
The theory of multiple intelligences is a model of understanding the mind developed by Howard Gardner and published in 1983. For him, intelligence is not a unitary set that groups together different specific abilities, but rather a network of autonomous, relatively interrelated sets.
Intelligence types
Howard Gardner argues that, just as there are many types of problems to solve, there are also many types of intelligence. He made the decision to write about "Multiple Intelligences" to highlight the unknown number of human capabilities, and intelligences to emphasize that these capabilities are as fundamental as those traditionally detected by the Intelligence Quotient (IQ).
To date, Howard Gardner and his team at Harvard University have identified twelve different types of intelligence:
1- Linguistic-Verbal: It consists of the domination of language.
2- Logical-Mathematical: Ability to conceptualize logical relationships between actions or symbols.
3-Visual-spatial: Ability to recognize objects and get an idea of their characteristics.
4- Musical-auditory: Ability to recognize sound characters.
5- Corporeal-Kinesthetic: Ability to coordinate body movements.
6- Interpersonal: Ability to empathize and understand the choice of friends, partners, etc.
7- Intrapersonal: Ability to know oneself, for example one's feelings or thoughts, etc.
8- Naturalist: Sensitivity that some people show towards the natural world.
9- Emotional: It covers skills to recognize, understand and manage emotions of one's own and others.
10- Existential: Meditation of existence. Includes the meaning of life and death.
11- Creative: It consists of innovating and creating new things.
12- Collaborative Ability to choose the best option to achieve a goal by working as a team.
