February 6th 馃摎馃挮
Hello dear reader, how are you? Today we come with a new topic.✨️馃摎
Today we will learn about Grammar Translation Method.
I took the time to research more on the subject and I found on the website who created this method and it was Johann Heinrich Philipp Seidenst眉cker, this method.
This method emerged in Prussia at the end of the 18th century, as the teaching of Latin and Greek.
The purpose of this method is to help the student who wants to learn a second language to understand and be able to read the language's own literature.
This method is used to improve the intellectual growth of students who want to learn English as a second language.
How to apply this method?
First, the student is told to read a text of the language she is learning, then the teacher tells her to translate some lines from the exro and finally the teacher gives vocabulary to the student regarding the text.
Learning is based on performing exercises related to grammar and vocabulary and translation activities in which previously acquired knowledge is used.
Advantages of the grammar method - translation
● Focuses on the grammatical structure of the sentence.
●Helps teach reading and writing.
●The meanings of words are learned much faster thanks to the direct translation available.
Disadvantages of the grammar-translation method.
○Little student participation and poor student-teacher interaction
○ Inaccurate translations in certain cases, it is not always possible to simply translate a word, phrase or text accurately.
Below I leave you some notes from the classes seen this week.
See you next class馃摎☺️
