Hello again dear reader, today we will learn about a new method in teaching a foreign language.

Today in our class we talked about The Silent Way Method, first let's see where this method originated.

The Silent Way was founded in the early 1970s by the Egyptian mathematician and educator Caleb Gattegno.

It is based on the idea that language is learned in three main ways: discovery rather than teaching; problem-solving in the target language; the use of physical tools.

MAIN PRINCIPLES

●Start with familiar sounds.

●Give help only if absolutely necessary. Allow students to use   their own Knowledge of language learning.

●Student attention to the teacher is important.

●Errors are important and necessary for learning.

Then in groups we translated two documents, one from Spanish to English and the other from English to Spanish.

I honestly felt that it was a bit difficult for me because there were words that I did not know how to translate, that is, I was not clear about their equivalent in the context in which they were spoken.

Below I show you some photos of the translations.

We also put into practice the technique of associating a block with a word, I created a figure and each piece was a word in which we ended up creating the phrase - story of: "I went to my job and I bought Mexican food".

In the following forums you will be able to see the created figure.

Lastly we saw about TPR "Total Physical Response".

Method in which it is about teaching through physical contact

This method was founded by James Asher.

Don't miss the next classes because we will continue talking a little about TPR.

See you soon! 馃榾馃摎✨️
